TYPE: Mexico: San Luis Potosí: forming large colonies on oak trees in humid mixed forest, near Tortuga northwest of Tomasopo, at 1500 m. alt., 14 May 1935, O. Nagel & Juan Gonzáles 4791 (holotype, AMES; isotypes, MO, NY, , SEL, US).
