Abstract. Macroclinium allenorum, from southern Costa Rica, is described. Though collected and illustrated by the Allens more than forty years ago, the species has been confused with other taxa. Among Macroclinium species with subcapitate inflorescence, M. allenorum may be distinguished from M. glicensteinii by the lip adnate to the column base, and from M. generalense by the cordate lamina of the lip.
