TYPE: Colombia. Nariño: above Ricaurte, epiphytic in cloud forest near the La Planada Biological station, alt. 1950 m, collected by A. Hirtz, C. & J. Luer et al., flowered in cultivation in Quito by A. Hirtz in Quito, Ecuador, 2 Nov 1979, C. Luer 6314 (holotype, SEL; clonotype, MO).
