El Parque Nacional Volcán Irazú (PNVI) se encuentra en la provincia de Cartago y forma parte del Área de Conservación Cordillera Volcánica Central (ACCVC). Tiene un área de 2.309 hectáreas y protege el cráter Diego de la Haya del volcán Irazú a una elevación de 3432 metros sobre el nivel del mar. La vegetación es típica del páramo y su vegetación ha sido alterada por la actividad volcánica. Su nombre es de origen indígena y proviene de la palabra Iztarú que significa cerro del temblor y del trueno.

Irazú Volcano National Park (INP) is located in the province of Cartago and is part Área de Conservación Cordillera Volcánica Central (ACCVC). The park comprises an area of 2,309 hectares and protects the Diego de la Haya crater of the Irazu volcano at an elevation of 3432 meters above sea level. The vegetation is typical of the paramo and it has been altered by volcanic activity. Its name is derived from an indigenous language and comes from the word Iztarú, meaning hill of the tremor and thunder.
